If you are thinking of buying a franchise, reputation matters.
We believe that Pearle Vision’s national reputation for providing its patients with high-quality eye care and customer service, as well as for carrying some of the optical industry’s most fashionable and popular eyewear brands, such as Ray-Ban, Persol and Oakley, makes it an attractive investment for licensed owners.
In Reputation.com’s 2019 Retail Reputation Report, Pearle Vision is ranked No. 14 among the Top 100 U.S. retail brands, ahead of retailers such as Ralph Lauren (No. 35), Neiman Marcus (No. 36), Whole Foods (No. 39) and Target (No. 64). The report lists Pearle Vision’s average reputation score at 590, well above the average of 500 for all retail locations. Pearle Vision is the only optical brand on the list.
Reputation score is an industry index that reflects visibility and customer sentiment online as well as retail store sales growth. The annual report shows which retailers are leading and which are lagging in terms of online reputation, as well as key service metrics as expressed in customer reviews on Google, Facebook and other websites.
Retail Reputation Report data show that:
- 92% of customers trust peer recommendations over traditional advertising.
- Seven out of 10 customers will spend more to do business with a company that delivers a great customer experience.
- Retailers that improved their reputation scores the most had three times higher sales growth than those at the bottom of the ranking.
“Reputation.com provides feedback from across the omnichannel spectrum and enables us to communicate on outlets such as Google My Business,” says Doug Zarkin, vice president of marketing and chief marketing officer at Pearle Vision. “By doing this, we can more effectively maintain stewardship over our reputation.”
The Reputation.com ranking is only one indicator of the high esteem in which Pearle Vision’s patients hold the brand. Also in 2019, Pearle Vision received a prestigious Women’s Choice Award after nine out of 10 female customers surveyed gave Pearle Vision the highest satisfaction rating and said they would recommend the brand to their families and friends. And in 2017, the Millward Brown Optical Retail Tracker found that consumers rated Pearle Vision the top optical brand for doctor quality perception.
A stellar reputation is one of the main reasons that customers choose to shop at brick-and-mortar retailers such as Pearle Vision over online competitors, says Zarkin. “We are building our reputation in the exam room and on the retail floor. Converting a patient to a happy, glasses-buying customer is how Pearle Vision grows its business, and that often begins with a recommendation from a friend who’s a satisfied customer.”
